Feed this into your head: Grace Slick celebrates her 80th birthday today.
As a member of Jefferson Airplane, the powerhouse singer established herself as one of the iconic voices of the Woodstock era, then found continued success with the more mainstream-rock-oriented spinoff groups Jefferson Starship and Starship.
Prior to joining Jefferson Airplane, Slick sang with another Bay Area band, The Great Society.
She replaced the Airplane's original female vocalist Signe Anderson in late 1966 in time to record the group's breakthrough second album, 1967's Surrealistic Pillow.
Slick brought two Great Society songs with her -- "Somebody to Love," written by the band's lead guitarist and Grace's then-brother-in-law, Darby Slick, and the self-penned "White Rabbit.
The band emerged as one of the leading psychedelic acts in the U.
In 1971, Slick and band mate Paul Kantner had a daughter, China Kantner.
After Airplane's 1972 breakup, Grace and Paul formed Jefferson Starship.
Jefferson Airplane co-founder Marty Balin soon joined the group, scoring hits such as "Miracles," Count on Me," "With Your Love" and "Runaway.
After Kantner quit Jefferson Starship in 1984, the group changed its name to Starship and proceeded to score three 1 hits -- "We Built This City," "Sara" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now.
Since then, she's focused on painting.

Following the sad news that Cream drummer Ginger Baker died today at the age of 80, a variety of famous artists offered up tributes to the influential musician.
In a message posted on hisPaul McCartney recalls collaborating with Baker during the 1970s.
Sad to hear that he died but the memories never will.
He was a fiery but extremely talented and innovative drummer.
RIP Ginger, one of the greatest drummers of all time.
I was lucky to play with him in Ginger Baker's Air Force.
And also in Blind Faith with Eric Clapton and Rick Grech.
Although his appointment was very unorthodox he showed up on the doorstep and said, 'Here I am' - he made a great contribution to the Blind Faith album which has withstood the test of time.
Beneath his somewhat abrasive exterior, there was a very sensitive human being with a heart of gold.
When I advertised on my Imperial College notice board for a drummer to form a group with 1969, I thinkI put 'Wanted : a drummer who can play like Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell and GINGER BAKER'.
So you could say Ginger Baker is inextricably woven into our history, as well conquering the world with CREAM, and his other projects.
He was a great drummer and we all were fans of Cream back then.
I will never forget the awesomeness of seeing him perform with Cream at Massey Hall on June 5 1968 along side the late great Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton…He was one of Rock's first virtuoso drummers and his incredible legacy lives on.
It is hard to find fault with the notion he was the pioneer of a rock drummer.
There was no context for him, there was no archetype.
He is the archetype…Ginger Baker is most notable achievement that should be recognized is the first rock drum solo…And me as a 15-year-old kid at the time was, 'yeah, yeah, that's the rock drummer I want to be!
One of the greatest drummers of all time.
Begin with Cream's Disraeli Gears.
One of the all time greatest drummers.
Rhythms we've heard all our lives he plucked them out of the sky.
Rest In Peace Ginger Baker.
Thank you for all that you gave us.
Elton John's Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, currently scheduled through December of 2020, is being billed as his last one ever.
But David Furnish, Elton's manager and husband, says the trek definitely won't be your last opportunity to see the Rocket Man live in concert.
Speaking to the U.
Maybe a small series of shows in London every couple of years, maybe a small residency in Vegas is a possibility.
He wants to spend time with his family, that's the most important thing.
Elton is a workhorse, he's passionate and vital and loves what he does.
He must never stop creating and he must never stop performing, at least in a very limited capacity.
He finds that excruciating now.
That side of his life will end.
In addition, David teases, "We have another musical theater project that we're developing right now.

As it turns out, the album essentially happened by accident.
As DuVall tells ABC Audio, he had originally written what became the first track and lead single for One Alone, "Til the Light Guides Me Home," for another artist.
However, things changed when he went to a studio to record a demo for the song.
I don't know, you might wanna rethink giving that away,'" DuVall recalls.
Since the demo didn't take much time to record, and everything in the studio was already set up, DuVall decided to lay down a few more tracks.
He left with a total of eight songs recorded, and eventually came up with enough for an album.
While One Alone came together pretty naturally, the concept of "going solo" was a major hurdle for DuVall mentally, and caused something of an identity crisis.
I believe in the band as a unit, as a family unit as much as a musical unit.
